Modern Slavery

If you encounter anyone – whether online or in person – whom you suspect is being exploited by someone else, you can contact the UK-wide Modern Slavery Helpline for information, advice, or to report your concerns.

The helpline is independent and confidential and is run by a specialist modern slavery charity, Unseen. It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and you do not need to give your personal details.

Call the helpline on 08000 121 700 or download the Unseen app for more information, a list of warning signs, or to report your concerns.

A few signs that could indicate a situation of sexual exploitation:

  • May appear scared or intimidated
  • Individuals may be closely guarded
  • The person maybe be "branded" with a tattoo indicating ownership
  • May show signs of physical abuse, including bruising, scarring and cigarette burns
  • The person may have a limited English vocabulary, restricted to sexualised words
